Excavation Project Manager
Excavation Project Manager:
It is the responsibility of the Project Manager to organize, supervise and coordinate the project through daily communication with superintendents. On each project this is expected in order to complete the work safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the quality of workmanship specified. It is also the Project Manager’s responsibility to serve as the Onyx Corporation representative on the Owner-Architect-Builder team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Quantity takeoff, contract negotiation, and buyout.
- Preparing submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
- Preparing and maintaining project schedule for clients.
- Material procurement for crews, as necessary
- Complete oversight of projects. Making regular site visits to check on progress, meet with crew, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and review project costs. • Preparing and negotiating change orders with clients.
- Preparing and submitting payment requisitions.
- Reviewing field logs for assigned projects for cost and quantity tracking. • Preparing weekly, monthly, and annual cost reports/financial forecasts. • Management of all project changes, including on-going review of site engineering plans and scope.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- A minimum of 5 years construction industry Project Management experience is required, experience in public or private site work will be considered • Comfortable working in a team environment
- Must be comfortable communicating with all levels of Management, Owners/Architects/Design Engineers, Site Foreman, Laborers & Operators. • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment operation, and current OSHA safety standards
- Ability to read drawings, plans and engineering specifications.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills • Comfortable using design, job cost, and project management software systems
Education and Certifications:
- Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree a plus
- OSHA 30 certification
- Valid driver’s license

Assistant Project Manager
Assistant Project Manager
Job Summary:
To assist project managers in organizing and coordinating the project. On each project this is expected in order to complete the work safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the quality of workmanship specified.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Manager with all aspects of assigned projects, having a full understanding of the scope of work, budget, and project schedule.
- Assist with obtaining pricing from vendors and subcontractors, ensure orders are to spec and within budget.
- Assist with the preparation of submittal packages and buyout for projects, ensure materials are ordered to meet schedule milestones.
- Prepare and maintain Request for Information (RFI) orders regarding design details.
- Maintain B2W Track for additions to work items and quantity claiming. • Review and cost code vendor and subcontractor invoices.
- Assist with developing/negotiation/submitting pay requisitions for projects. • Job cost, project management, and scheduling software systems used daily.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Comfortable working in a team environment

Excavation Field Superintendent:
The Excavation Field Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in an efficient manner, supervises and troubleshoots all issues that occur on the job site, and ensures safety rules are always followed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Manager with all aspects of assigned projects
- Prepare submittal packages and buyout projects.
- Prepare and Maintain work schedule for clients.
- Material Procurement for crews on a timely basis
- Meet with crew and review project timeline.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders with clients.
- Prepare pencil requisitions and review with controller.
- Approve field logs for all assigned projects and submit to payroll using B2W software
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience as an onsite infrastructure superintendent
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment
- OSHA 30 certification
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with workers on site and report project status and issues that may arise to the job Project Manager and company ownership • Aptitude in math
- Problem-solving and multitasking abilities required in order to respond in a fast paced construction enviroment
Education and Experience:
- Valid driver’s license
- 3-5 years’ experience in a Superintendent role in Public or Private Works • High school graduate

Excavation Foreman
Excavation Foreman:
The Excavation Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in an efficient manner, supervises and troubleshoots routine issues that occur on the job site, and ensures safety rules are always followed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate tasks with site Superintendent and the Project Manager working according to priorities and plans
- Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew, for accurate completion of Field Log for payroll
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities on the worksite for work crew
- Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
- Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
- Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
- Resolve problems when they arise
- Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.
- As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of a project.

Equipment Operator/Driver
Equipment Operator/Driver:
The Equipment Operator/Driver will perform highly complex and difficult construction and maintenance activities by operating a variety of heavy equipment, trucks, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May direct and supervise the work of other laborers and equipment operators as necessary to aid in safe and efficient completion of tasks requiring heavy equipment use.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates a variety of heavy equipment such as an excavator, bulldozer, loader, and backhoe to accomplish difficult or highly complex tasks.
- Operates a variety of trucks such as a dump truck, rock truck, and dump trailer • Prior to operating equipment, conducts routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
- Monitors gauges and other equipment indicators to ensure safe operation. • Performs or requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Assists with repairs as needed.
- Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.
- Maintains records of time worked and materials used.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: Onyx is seeking a skilled Survey Engineer to join our Survey Department. This role is essential in supporting our field operations by developing accurate surface models, processing as-built data, and ensuring seamless communication between office and field teams. You’ll also play a critical role in GPS Machine Control calibration and drone flight support.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and manage surface models for use in field operations.
- Integrate as-built data from field collections into accurate, up-to-date as-built drawings.
- Revise drawings and communicate changes to field teams effectively.
- Perform site calibration, job setup, and support drone flights to assist survey crews.
- Conduct calibration and troubleshooting of GPS Machine Control systems.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as a Survey Engineer or similar role.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center.
- Experience uploading and revising field files.
- Strong understanding of the civil construction as-built process.

Trucking Dispatcher
Job Summary:
Truck Dispatcher needs to be highly detailed and work well under pressure to coordinate many changing factors while efficiently scheduling trucks for delivery of aggregates, sand, and landscape materials.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manages truck drivers’ schedules and routes, oversees dispatching of dump truck drivers and trucks, and assigns trucks according to factors such as bed style and driver knowledge.
- Communicates with equipment manager, supervisors, plant managers, job foremen, and outside customers for delivery of aggregates and other materials.
- Provides timely shipping details to customers
- Reviews logs of truck drivers, approves and codes timecards, fuel tickets, and delivery tickets to ensure accuracy
- Documents all calls, deliveries, routes and times for pickups and deliveries
- Completes paperwork related to shipments, such as invoices, trucking and delivery slips
- Handles customer complaints and inquiries; works well with existing customers and aids in building customer relationships
- Negotiates rates and delivery timelines; Responsible for accurate billing
- Answers customer phone calls & helps with questions on materials pricing, delivery, & pick-up.
- Runs the Scale House, an office with drive-through scale & service window, as backup when needed. Greet & help internal truck drivers, foremen, and office employees, as well as outside truck drivers and customers.
- Enters orders & deliveries into the scale system, generating receipts and inventory tickets
- Handles checks, credit card, and occasionally cash sales transactions
- Works with operations manager on trucking needs for off-site jobs. Hires and schedules outside trucks to assist in deliveries to plants and jobs.
